Alfreton based race-ace, Craig Fitzpatrick looks as though he could fall victim
to the current economic downturn. The present financial troubles have forced one
of his major sponsors to reassess their spending. As a result, Fitzpatrick has
fallen short of securing sufficient funding to complete the remainder of his
British Supersport Championship campaign.
The news comes at an unfortunate time for Fitzpatrick, as he had made great
progress on the setup of his 2009 Yamaha R6 in recent weeks. The 30-year-old,
British Supersport Cup champion, currently sits 11th in the Championship
standings and has recorded three top-ten finishes the season. Fitzpatrick's best
finish was fifth place at Oulton Park, and after suffering a couple of difficult
weekends, had begun to get his season back on track with a 6th at Snetterton.
With the continued support of Close Print and his other sponsors, Fitzpatrick
aims to next compete at Round 8, Brands Hatch, in three weeks time.
