Alfreton-based speedster, Craig Fitzpatrick, has earned himself a British
Superbike ride for the remainder of the season, with the experienced Jentin
Racing team. Fitzpatrick will make the step up to the title series for round
nine at Cadwell Park this weekend.
Fitzpatrick was offered the chance to join up with Jentin based on the promise
he has shown this year. The 30-year-old had been running his own privateer team
in the British Supersport Championship and with only a limited budget, has
scored regular top-ten finishes, the best of which was a fifth place at Oulton
Park.
Fitzpatrick commented: "I am over the moon to have been given this chance
with Jentin Racing, they're a really professional team and I'm really looking
forward to it. It's going to be a challenge, but I am definitely relishing it.
I'd like to thank all my sponsors for the support they have given me with the
Supersport bike this year and letting me take this opportunity."
"Cadwell is going to be a really tough place to start out; as it's such a
technical circuit and we are all being realistic about our chances. but really
it's all about improving every time I go out. It's a big step up from Supersport
to Superbike; the larger, more powerful bike requires a completely different
riding style. One of the main things about Superbike is there's two races on
race day and a lot more track time throughout the weekend ."
"Hopefully if all goes well for the rest of this year then there may be an
opportunity to do the same next year, but we'll have to wait and see."
