After a winter of testing, Craig Fitzpatrick is eagerly anticipating the start
of the new British Superbike Evo Championship. The BLDS Close Print Finance Honda rider will again be
competing in the Evo series after making his debut in 2010.
Fitzpatrick's testing schedule has taken him to Cartagena in Spain as well as up
and down the country to prepare him for the year ahead.
He commented: "We had a week out in Spain early on which we used as a bit of a
shakedown test. There were a couple of technical issues which we discovered with
last year's bike which we were able to get to the bottom of and resolve. This
was a huge confidence boost for us because of the difficulties we had
experienced last year"
"Last week was the official BSB tests at Brands Hatch and the new Snetterton 300
circuit. Again, we made some really good progress in every sense."
"It was the first chance I had had to ride the new Snetterton 300 track since it
opened at the end of February. I am a big fan of the new layout, it looks like
it's going to provide some great racing. They have made it quite a long lap
now."
With the new campaign getting underway at Brands Hatch next weekend, Fitzpatrick
declared:
"I am really looking forward to getting the new season underway next weekend. I
am really happy with the whole set-up, the team have all been working well
during testing and I think everyone is excited ahead of the first meeting. "
"I am pleased with the progress we have made on the new bike over the last
couple of months and its feels like we have made some big steps forward."
"Compared to where we were this time last year, I am feeling much more
confident. I think the package we have got is going to be more competitive than
last year. There have been some changes to the rules which should work in the
Honda's favour."
"The Evo championship looks like it is going to be much more competitive this
season. There are quite a few more people on the grid to start with. There are
some very good riders in the Evo class, such as Simon Andrews, Glen Richards and
Scott Smart, so the competition should be fierce."
